10:16 20mm artillery? That's like .78 inch, surely that's not correct, that's autocannon level calibre that'd mean that the ships would be operating incredibly close to the island. 😮
Outstanding presentation, meaningfully supplemented by the actual accounts of German troops of all ranks with their highly varied experiences from the early days of triumph to the bitter retreat after their final ground offensive collapsed in failure!
The Hellcats kill to loss ratio was 19-1, but that was against all Japanese aircraft. It also produced over 300 American aces in the Pacific theater.
The incendiary bombs caused a "FIRESTORM" ; READ :TORNADO OF FIRE where people are literally sucked up into the fiery tornado. As to the morality of bombing huge centers of civilian populations ? That is a debate for a later video. He said.
Lots of butthurt tiger lovers in the comments.
George H W Bush was a trader against the constitution in the first place he commented purgery he lied under oath he didn't honor his promise to defend uphold to secure the constitution of the United States.
Storming Norman would not recognize today’s woke military!
Rumsfeld must have worked at the Kremlin too in 2021. Telling Putin that the Ukrainian army would surrender and fight for the Russians and stuff. This is what happens when politicians try to play war, and yes I know he was in the Navy at some point.
Just like Vietnam, politicians continue to be the most greatest threat and obstacle when it comes to winning wars, not the enemy. Politicians have more capability to damage the prospects of success than any opponent.
It was incredible Pratt & Witney developing R-2800 putting out 2200 HP. The Hellcat, Thunderbolt and Corsair would have been way too heavy to be effective fighters without that sort of power. The most powerful radial engine Britain had at the time was the Bristol Hercules with 1500 HP.
It's easy to occupy a developing nation, but it is hard to control it. A developed decadent nation is much easier to control after annexation due to having less young manpower grown under recent regime.
Wait what.... you mean we didnt drop leaflets on Dresden to warn them we were coming like the IDF do?
muslims deny this facts but instead claimed that egypt won this war, the reason why sinai was taken back😅

You know, if I pick a fight with a guy & get my butt kicked, I'D quit right there. But let's say that instead of using my head, I get a buddy (or two) to help me beat the crap outta this guy. Fast forward to today... All of these yesrs, & all of these defeats EVEN WHEN ISRAEL WAS OUTNUMBERED 3 TO 1 & THEY (the Israelis) STILL KICKED THEIR BUTTS & THE ARABS STILL HAVEN'T LEARNED ???? PROOF POSITIVE THAT YOU CANNOT FIX STUPID !!!
Why talk bullshit ... so tierd of u brittish constant try shape ww2 history to your favor .... the german panzers where not clogged down in que and tiger was nerfed to a stone with the 88 suddely weaker then stupid 17 pounder.... pure pisstalk ... you britt lost 3250 shermans in one year ...that makes you a complete imbasill in tank tactic you idiots lost 400 shermans in one day in opration blâtann .....never never speak u bullshit to us
Shh... the adults are having a conversation.

I often wonder, all of those fighter planes, droppjng all of those drop tanks, how many house's roofs, barn roofs & cows got hit by them when they were jettisoned ? I mean, the pilots had neither the time or the inclination to look or even care ! ROFLMAO.
Not true
For everyone who had a father or uncle or even a neighbor who served & you could talk to about their service, I hope you realize what a spectacular gift you were given. My father & uncle, both of whom served in the ETO, also both came home with raging cases of what is now known as PTSD. They both had MEGA-SHORT tempers & drowned their horrible memories in booze. God bless all who served. RIP heros. 🫡 🇺🇸
The Hellcat was specifically designed to kill zeroes.
This is what happens The US do something dumb and lose some stuff then they go back to the drawing board and make new stuff or change how they use the stuff Then Russia loses a lot of stuff and goes "NUH UH" and continues to lose stuff
My brother was a United States Marine and our American family fought against the Japanese and our European family against the Germans. Yet, we have recommended to each other media that is from the perspective of men that the sworn enemies of our family not even ninety years ago. While we certainly should be prudent, we should not immediately dismiss media that is not from the point of view of our side or a side freindly to us. In exposing ourselves to such media, I believe we can better forgive those who have transgress against US and work to prevent ourselves from going the same road.
"We're paratroopers, we're supposed to be surrounded"
The Russians fought to preserve communism period.
Lots of descriptions of what went on. But why it mattered? Consider the N. African campaign like the Peninsula Campaign during the Napoleonic period. Britain couldn't take on the continental power by herself. So they used the fleet to attain mobile targets to harass and distract the enemy on the fringes of the main theater of activity.
"If anyone says we fought heroically, I want people to know that we fought retarded." - Sgt. Eric Kocher, 1st Recon Batallion, 1st Marines.
Hi @maroccomo
Fuck monty the glory from bastogne and the buldge is for Americans only
10th armored was already there. Their division patches were ordered removed, Germans did not account for.
Constructive critique, include a date. If I'm watching an informational/historical/documentational video about a subject I just don't think the audience should have to visit wikipedia to figure out what day/month or year an event that the entire video is about had taken place.
Another factor you did not mention is that the Allies had started using proximity fuses in their artillery, dramatically increasing their effectiveness compared to the Germans.
What an incredible perspective. Very sad to hear she’s passed.
Just simply ask the Japanese. What reason did the emperor give for surrendering? The reason, a new and deviating weapon.
she must have had a very interesting and unique opinion of the world, seeing so much history like that. rest in peace
"A year after the invasion a investigation by former secretary of defence James Scheslinger ..." His name is: Schlesinger. Thats not even a exotic name, bro. But regardless, I like your work! Please go on!
Keep in mind both Iraq and Afghanistan have many tribal factions with different religious ideology... to have a stable local leadership was impossible...those country can only be govern by a dictatorship...
So he was an arse. big deal. people have different personalities.
I remember at the time really being concerned by how shoestring the whole thing was. That administration was really poorly led and had some absolutely bonkers assumptions. They really only saw the reality they wanted to see. That was a really depressing part of American history to live through.
Good to see Rumsfeld vision trickled down to Putin.
Short answer: maneuver warfare. The use of the M18 Hellcat's speed and maneuverability had a significant impact on the outcome of the Battle of the Bulge.
Rumsfeld was still a bit salty that during Gulf War 1 his plan was destroyed and Stormin' Norman Schwartzkoff made Rumsfeld look like the amateur he was by repeatedly pointing the errors of Rumsfeld plan in front of everyone. Then dismissed him in a not subtle fashion.
They had already killed most of the experienced pilots by 1943 and the battle of the Coral Sea
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LET THE ARMY, A BRANCH THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE GRAVEL KICKER SOLDERS, FLY AIRCRAFT!! THE USAF is PILOTS, the ARMY ARE WALKERS and TANKERS. In Vietnam, the US ARMY had over TEN TIMES THE HELO LOSSES as the USAF and Marines! (Capt. ret, USAF, 20th SOS, 27th Spl Ops Wing, 22 years, Nam 70-73)
History is never been put in full perspective... In a nutshell prior to WWI and even until wwii Americans always hated the British...
It's a sad state for the advancement of human civilization when after so many centuries of barbarism, there are still fanatics all over the planet who would happily throw their lives away for some futile or non existent entity or cause. We are painfully slow learners.
